Shade Net Ltd started its operations in Kenya in 1994 based out of Thika. At that time the company’s main activity was the manufacturing of agriculture shade nets with only just 8 employees.

In the following years, the company started to grow, and the founder came up with different ways of processing plastics. The importance of water saving and increasing farmer yields led the company to focus on three main business streams: micro irrigation, water distribution and technical nets.

In the early to mid 2000s the company started manufacturing and commercialising pressure piping systems, micro irrigation systems and technical crop cover solutions.
